Hello Nigel, our business website is due for renewal this year.
We offer, and will continue to offer e commerce, but this is a small percentage of our business.
Where possible we include technical specifications of components.- we are trying to reach out to design and development engineers, but also to buyers of components that are often not…[Read more]

    • One option would be to convert the website into WordPress, which is easy to use. It is also Google friendly. I think that it would be helpful to work on the design and visual brand identity in order to make it more visually appealing. Will the content remain largely as it is or will there be a rethink?

Mailchimp Sign Up forms – this is the form I generated for my contacts to subscribe . – It was meant as a general sign up form for any of our customers who fall into 1 or more of these segments.

    • Hi Michael, Thank you for sharing your MailChimp signup form with us: http://eepurl.com/dhsG09 Here is some feedback (offered in the spirit of friendship!):
      * I don’t think that the yellow background on the form works; I know that yellow is one of your brand colours, however, it makes the form difficult to read and I suggest that you change it to…[Read more]

“How can we build an opt in email marketing list?”

I sent an email to 600 email addresses before Christmas all to clients known
to us, in the Automotive sector. (though not through mailchimp as the bounce
back I anticipated would be high, I wanted to “clean “ the list first.
    A copy is attached
At the bottom of the email was an opportunity for…[Read more]

    • Hi Michael, Yes, I understand the challenge that you are facing. This is all about Permission Marketing (a phrase coined by Seth Godin) whereby prospective customers provide marketers with permission to send them marketing messages.
With GDPR on the horizon, this is becoming even more challenging for some organisations.
The key is to offer[Read more]

Second, may I utilize my Mailchimp support in its last few hours ?
This week before Christmas, time to set up some lists and prepare
a few campaigns for Jan Feb.

Go to log on like I have previously, once a week to have a little play, they have been
asking me to initiate a verification code which is sent by SMS to my phone.
    Done this 3…[Read more]

    • Hi Michael, Thanks for asking this. On the assumption that MailChimp has your mobile phone number, I think that it would be a good idea to talk to them on instant messaging. Here is the MailChimp contact page: https://mailchimp.com/contact Click on ‘Technical support’, scroll down and it says Chat with us. Kind regards, Nigel

  • I have a question regarding GDPR. – I have several actually. As a journeyman in sales of electronic components, I and many of my peers would have collected the names and addresses of 100’s of customer contacts, phone numbers etc, which one keeps personally as a valuable tool of the trade. Under GDPR would I have to go back to these contacts and…[Read more]

Pennine Components does appear under my Manage menu and I can click on and enter the page. I can and have posted articles on there but with only 8 followers its not going to get seen by many . I can post on both but its time consuming, I thought if Pennine Components followed Michael Horlock , the posts would appear there too. Or if I could share…[Read more]

  • I am preparing to start with Twitter as a promotional tool.

I believe we can raise a Tweet, say once a day with promotional statements about
products, with a link to our suppliers website pages or our own created pages.

However I fear that if I have, say, 100 customers (followers), if they are all visible
then my competition will find…[Read more]

    • Hi Michael

Thanks for asking this question. I suggest that you Tweet more frequently – say six times a day – as this will get everything going faster. In general, ‘customer education’ works well, side-by-side with promotional Tweets.

No, I wouldn’t be concerned about your competitors.

If you protect your Tweets, it slows everything up.…[Read more]
