    HI Nigel, Have you had good results from the YouTube videos? Just wondering how much difference they are making.

    • So far, we have had over 9 hours of watch time. I am quite surprised about this, as there are only a handful of videos and they are all quite short. Apparently, YouTube likes to have about 35 videos within a Channel, so that it can figure out what the channel is all about and start recommending videos. Therefore, I have quite a bit of work to do!

    Fascinating – I don’t post much on Linkedin, but my recent post “Good morning, it’s so nice to be teaching and sleeping out in the woods again…” bucked past trends with just shy of 800 views and engagement too. Sometimes we need to refresh our perceptions, times they are a changing, and there’s a need for some reinvention!…[Read more]

    • Thank you for sharing this, David and I have just Liked your LinkedIn post. 🙂
      The copy is engaging and gentle. The video is perfect. I can see that you have responded to the comments. 10/10

    Here are some initial thoughts on creating a YouTube channel, following the relaunch of The Marketing Compass YouTube channel: https://bit.ly/3byunXH
    * If you have had a channel for some time, reconsider your target market. Who, exactly, is your channel aimed at (I have posted a Segmentation video within our channel, that may help)
    * Also: work…[Read more]

    • I do enjoy your talks on copy writing Nigel, the stories flow, they’re light, informative and helpful. Finding the right time to let our own words flow out can be a challenge, sometimes I find they just don’t come, but when I’m in a good place, perhaps by a campfire or siting under a tree, being ready for the moments to capture those words is all…[Read more]

    • Thank you, David. Sometimes, I feel like I am shouting into the void. It is nice to know that someone is out there, either reading or viewing my content. Any thoughts on your first book by the way? Do you have a title in mind? 🙂

    How to write effective headlines….

    In advertising, nearly six times as many people read the headline as the bodycopy of an advertisement. A good headline should telegraph your message into the mind of the reader.
    It will entice them to read the rest of your copy.

    In his book ‘Confessions of an Advertising Man’, advertising guru David Ogi…[Read more]

    I came across this again this morning, thought I would post it. This is the IDea Labs research on success factors in start-ups and smaller businesses: 1-Timing | 42%| the example of a streaming company that failed in 2003 because broadband wasn’t good enough across USA. 2005 saw the launch of Netflix. 2 – Team | 32% | People have to adapt and be r…[Read more]

    I posted an hour or so back that my workshop today was full! With the people attending it confirmed the method is sound; two of the participants are starting major projects for some serious business. Another was a returnee back for a refresh. Best of all was the liking of the delivery style (bash it out) and the inevitable mind maps. I think that…[Read more]

    Just about to start my next Eventbrite session on ‘Operating Models’. With the latest version of the profiles now getting more sign-ups and a few repeat attendees. A strange feeling to associated with absolute strangers in this way.

    • Good luck with the presentation, Ken! I know how much effort goes into these things, so well done and keep up the good work.

They experience an ‘Ah Ha!’ moment when they realise how you can help them with a problem that they have. All too often, when I read websites or marketing…[Read more]
